The HNF-NICOLAI XF2 TRAIL defines its own category of a full suspension eMTB. While suspension travel (front: 170mm / rear: 160mm), wheel size (27.5″) and tyres indicate enduro usage, geometry and specifications lead to an outstanding mixture of touring, trail and even everyday use. The comfortable geometry allows easy and playful handling even at low speeds and guarantees relaxed pleasure even on longest rides. Low-maintenance components such as the combination of Gates Carbon Drive and Rohloff gear hub with electronic E-14 control make the XF2 an all-round worry-free bike for everyday trail riding.
Belt Tensioner Made By Nicolai
The spring-loaded belt tensioner developed by Kalle Nicolai makes it possible to use the GATES CARBON DRIVE on the full-suspension XF2. When deflecting, the rear wheel moves slightly away from the crank axle. Rear suspension systems therefore require the belt tension to be compensated. The tensioner has a ball-bearing mounted pulley on the underside of the belt to ensure a constant belt tension even in hard off-road use.
Anti Squat Kinematics
All of the suspension’s bearing points are designed to bring pedal forces into balance with the mass forces of the driver. This effectively prevents the frame from bobbing when accelerating - and the entire pedal energy is available for propulsion.

The bike allows a combination of long suspension travel with nearly maintenance free gear and belt technology, thanks to propulsion – neutral design of the frame in combination with a custom-made belt tensioner.
Bearing Technology
The rear of a full-suspension bike is not a static component, it is exposed to extreme forces during driving. Critical points are the ball bearings, which ensure low breakaway torque and optimum response of the chassis. For long maintenance intervals, the XF2 is fitted with heavy-duty, full complement and fourfold sealed angular contact ball bearings.
Precision
The XF2 frame is equipped with the RADO - REAR ALIGNING DROPOUT, a form-fit, exchangeable dropout for toe and camber adjustment. Due to the individually milled dropouts for camber adjustment, the rear needs to be readjusted only slightly after installation.

Due to individually milled dropouts for adjusting the camber, the rear needs to be readjusted only slightly after installation. This takes the strain off the material. The respective camber height is milled into the RADO with the digits 0, 1, 2 or -1 and -2. After in production toe and camber have been set for the first time, the RADO is fixed with a pin. This makes the original setting easily reproducible and guarantees maximum precision on the trail.

They combine impressive mileage performance, a long lifetime and low weight with an ergonomic design and simple handling. The high-quality lithium-ion batteries are equipped with a Battery Management System, which recognizes potential sources of error and protects the cells from overload. The battery is concealed and perfectly protected by the frame. A convenient function means that the battery pops approx. 2 cm out of the frame when unlocked, making it easier to handle. In addition, a safety mechanism prevents the battery from falling out. The battery is also optimally protected by the frame.

The new Rohloff E-14 electronic gear hub sets standards for e-bikes. Never before has shifting in legendary Rohloff quality been more intelligent and comfortable. In combination with the eShift function of Bosch e-bike systems, this results in a uniquely fast shifting performance and a shift unit that can be operated without errors.
At the touch of a button, the drive takes load out of the system and the Rohloff E-14 shifts (with the button held down, the system will shift in fast sequence of three). When stopping (e.g. at a traffic light), the system automatically shifts back to the start-off gear.
The system, consisting of hub, handlebar switch and control unit, offers a 526% ratio bandwidth, which is subdivided into 14 gears. The transmission is also approved for high speed pedelecs (45km/h). It is prepared with Bluetooth LE for updates and communication with apps.
